Fuel Consumption (L/100km, MPG & Trip Cost)

Work out your fuel consumption from distance driven and fuel used. You get L/100km, MPG, and km/L, plus the trip cost and CO2 emissions.

How to use
  1. Enter the distance you drove.
  2. Enter the fuel used.
  3. Add the fuel price for a trip cost.

How it's calculated

L/100km = fuel ÷ distance × 100; MPG = miles ÷ gallons; cost = fuel × price

fuel = fuel burned, distance = trip distance, price = fuel price per unit. km/L = distance ÷ fuel; CO₂ ≈ litres × 2.31 kg.

Common questions

How do I calculate fuel consumption?

Divide the fuel used by the distance driven. Multiply by 100 for L/100km, or divide distance by fuel for MPG.

Is a lower L/100km better?

Yes. A lower L/100km means you use less fuel per distance, so it is more efficient. With MPG, higher is better.
