Speed, Distance & Time Solver

Give it any two of speed, distance, and time and it solves for the third. It accepts mph, km/h, m/s, knots, and a full set of distance and time units.

How to use
  1. Enter any two of speed, distance, or time.
  2. Pick the unit for each value you enter.
Average speed
66.7 km/h

100 km ÷ 1.5 h

Estimates for general information, verify important figures before relying on them.

How it's calculated

speed = distance ÷ time (d = v × t, t = d ÷ v)

distance, time and speed are converted to metres and seconds internally, then shown in your chosen units. Choose which of the three to solve; the other two are the inputs.

Common questions

What is the basic speed formula?

Speed equals distance divided by time, and the same relationship rearranges to find distance or time when you know the other two.

Can I mix units, like miles and hours?

Yes, you set the unit on each field, so entering miles and hours returns the speed in the unit you select.
