How it's calculated
°C = K − 273.15 (K = °C + 273.15)
K = kelvin, °C = degrees Celsius; 273.15 is the offset between the scales (their degree size is identical). Also shown: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32.
Common values
| Kelvin | Celsius |
|---|---|
| 0 K | -273.15 °C |
| 273.15 K | 0 °C |
| 310.15 K | 37 °C |
| 373.15 K | 100 °C |
Common questions
Why is there no degree symbol on Kelvin?
Kelvin is an absolute scale, so values are written as plain numbers with K, such as 300 K, not degrees Kelvin.
What is absolute zero in Celsius?
It is -273.15 °C, which equals 0 K. Nothing can get colder than that.
